Why is the Test Done?
This test is used for evaluating calcium phosphorus imbalance in the body. It is also used for evaluation of kidney stones. Raised levels are seen in primary hyperparathyroidism, vitamin D deficiency, renal tubular acidosis, diuretic use. Low levels are seen in hypoparathyroidism, pseudohypoparathyroidism and vitamin D intoxication.
