Why is the Test Done?
This test is the next level of Vitamin b12 testing. It detects the presence of only active form of b12( holotranscobalamin) which is taken up and used by the cells of the body and constitutes merely 10-30% of the entire vitamin b12. As this active form has a very short half life, this is the earliest detectable change of decrease in levels of Vitamin b12 in the human body.
