Why is the Test Done?
This molecular test is used for detection of High risk HPV (Human Papilloma virus) DNA. There are 14 high-risk types of HPV that can lead to cancer (16, 18, 31, 33, 35, 39, 45, 51, 52, 56, 58, 59, 66 and 68). Two HPV types,16 and 18, cause 80% of all cervical cancers.
